We will use the stump and soap box and want folks to share their thoughts with us (the public) on the anniversary of our war in Afghanistan. For so many reasons we want to end war and promote peace in our own country.

Today, activists worldwide commemorate these days in August by reminding ourselves and others that these types of weapons should never be used again.

The film Hibakusha, Our Life to Live tells the stories of Japanese, Korean and American survivors of the Atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. We are fortunate to have David Routhauser, the film’s director, as a guest to discuss the film, provide updates and answer audience questions.

We’ve reserved Study Room C at the Headquarters Library at 823 Telfair St, Augusta, GA, 30901. Each class begins at 6:30 pm and ends at 8:30 pm on the first and third Tuesdays of June, July, August and September. Study Room C is on the 2nd floor, behind the Reference Desk.

There is no attendance requirement, so even if you can only make one session, you’re welcome to come. Reading the suggested readings for each lesson is recommended but not mandatory.

RSVPs are recommended but not mandatory. There is limited space, and if it becomes necessary, we’d need to look for an alternate venue. RSVP requires creation of a free account at Meetup.com.

If it is more convenient for you to join the Augusta caravan at an I-20 exit further west, such as Evans or Thompson or Madison, make arrangements at least a day in advance with Ayman by calling or texting 706 284 3002.

When you RSVP, please indicate whether you can drive people in your car or whether you need a ride.

Demonstrators will gather at the 10th Street Plaza in Midtown in ATL at 12:00pm. The march to Piedmont Park begins at 12:30pm.

Bring signs, instruments, costumes…whatever you wish!

We can probably make it back to I-20 and Washington Rd by 6:30 pm.
